Building Lifesaving Readiness
The American Heart Association collaborated with Brother Francis Shelter in Anchorage to strengthen emergency preparedness through the development of a cardiac emergency response plan and acquisition of an automated external defibrillator (AED). This ensures shelter staff and volunteers are ready to respond swiftly to cardiac arrest emergencies.

Events in Your Area
The American Heart Association is committed to driving equitable health impact in Alaska through five key priority areas: women, readiness, tobacco and vaping, patients and healthy living. Equity is always at the center of our work, and it will continue to guide all that we do.
Through our focus on these key impact areas, and with collaboration among local organizations, sponsors, businesses, and others that serve the community, we are working to improve the health and well-being of Alaskans while saving and improving countless lives.
The American Heart Association, along with our supporters, will drive change, and will be relentless. Thank you for your continued support.
Healthy communities don't happen by chance. They happen when people take action.
The American Heart Association is proud to work alongside Alaskans to improve access to health care, strengthen nutrition security, and protect youth from tobacco and nicotine. Together, we're advancing policies that help people live longer, healthier lives and create healthier communities across the Last Frontier.
No advocacy experience is needed, just a desire to make a difference. When Alaskans come together, our voices are powerful.

For nearly 45 years, the American Heart Association has been working with educators in elementary, middle and high schools across the nation to help educate students about healthy living.
The Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge school programs provide unique age-appropriate curriculum and activities. Students and educators have the tools needed to support both mental and physical well-being in students, families and staff, all while making a difference by raising funds to save lives.
