Aortic stenosis is one of the most common and serious heart valve diseases, yet many people remain unaware they have the condition or go undiagnosed. To address this challenge, the American Heart Association is working to promote earlier diagnosis, timely treatment, improved quality of care and access to comprehensive resources for patients and caregivers.
In 2020, the American Heart Association launched Target: Aortic Stenosis™ to help improve outcomes for people living with the disease. The program supports earlier and more accurate diagnosis, timely treatment and ongoing disease management. It provides hospital care teams with tools and resources to deliver consistent, evidence-based care for patients with aortic stenosis.
In addition, Target: Aortic Stenosis helps hospitals monitor and improve the quality of care they provide while contributing valuable data for research, quality improvement initiatives and future advancements in aortic stenosis treatment and management.
