Smoking and Heart Disease in Women
Despite all the reasons you enjoy smoking, the fact remains that you’re hurting your body.
In fact, a pack of cigarettes includes a warning label that says smoking can increase irritability, impatience, hostility, anxiety, depression, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, decreased heart rate, appetite or weight gain.
And that’s just the beginning.
Advocacy and Public Policy
The American Heart Association’s Tobacco Regulation and Addiction Center (A-TRAC) conducts scientific studies on the health effects of tobacco products and their constituents, with a larger focus on new and emerging tobacco products such as e-cigarettes. Supported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health, A-TRAC is one of 14 centers nationwide funded to perform scientific research that informs the regulation of tobacco products.
