The numbers don't lie. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of Americans and negatively effects our workplaces. Many companies offer wellness programs, but are they may not be enough. We are here to help! We spend about a third of our life at work and need to ensure that our health is being taken care of while we're there.

Start Here with Your Workplace Health Assessment

 

First Step: The My Life Check® Basic Health Assessment

Give your employees the opportunity to assess their health.

What is My Life Check®? An individual assessment employees can take to determine changes they can make to improve their health and monitor their progress. There are 17 questions that take less than five minutes to complete. For an accurate assessment, you will need your blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol numbers. This assessment works together with the Workplace Health Achievement Index. As you register for the Index, you can populate it with your employees’ anonymous data from their My Life Check® assessments.

What to expect from My Life Check®:

  • A registration link will be emailed to you, giving your company a unique access code.
  • Your company administrator (HR) will have access to aggregate data for the company including the average heart health score of participating employees.
  • If you don’t want to be linked to a company code and just want to know your organization's Heart Health Score, you can take this survey(link opens in new window).

In a study of a large, multi-ethnic workforce, the annual employer healthcare costs were $2,021 lower for employees with at least six ideal metrics compared to employees with two or fewer ideal metrics.

Next, Assess Your Workplace with the Workplace Health Achievement Index

Use the My Life Check® data to help assess your company. The achievement index provides 55 questions to analyze your current workplace health program. It will identify areas to improve upon and engage with employees. Companies who participate will have the opportunity to achieve recognition in gold, silver or bronze levels. (Take a look at the 2018 Recognized Organizations.)  The goal is to create a cycle of continuous quality improvement.

Set Up an AHA Health Screening

Coming Soon! AHA is launching a science-based Health Screening Services business partner to help create a culture of health and wellbeing. The most effective workplace health screening models combine health screening with health assessment, followed by individual feedback that encourages activation and engagement in behavioral change, resulting in higher participation in health and wellness programs. These screenings are compliant with HIPAA and the Americans with Disabilities Act. They will also automatically incorporate into employees' My Life Check® profile as all three assessment pieces work together to create the most holistic program possible.

Check. Change. Control.

An estimated 103 million U.S. adults have high blood pressure, also known as the silent killer. Check. Change. Control. is a self-monitoring blood pressure program and online tracker. This four-month program provides education and resources to help people take control of their health.

All a human resources professional needs to do to implement this lifesaving program within their organization is to provide one cuff per worksite and send regular reminders to participants (incentives are recommended as well.) We have an implementation toolkit available for HR managers with pre-written email templates and are happy to answer your questions.
