Big Lots

Big Lots is a proud Life is Why retailer and National Wear Red Day matching partner

For the second year in a row, when customers walk into any Big Lots store the first three weeks of February, they’ll be met with a sea of red. This celebration of red speaks to the relationship between Big Lots and the American Heart Association (AHA) to promote Go Red for Women, a movement to raise awareness that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women.

In addition to asking customers to donate in support of the AHA at the register from February 1-20, 2022, Big Lots and the Big Lots Foundation will match any donations made on National Wear Red Day (this year on Feb. 4) through AHA’s website up to $333,333. The same match in 2021 led the AHA to have its most successful National Wear Day yet, raising over $2.4 million.

Big Lots is proud to engage their customers and their associates in the mission of the AHA. In addition to their national sponsorship and point-of-sale campaign, Big Lots proudly participates in the Columbus, OH Heart Walk, the city where they are headquartered.

“We want red to be prominent in our stores,” said Joice Wirkus, Big Lots senior vice president of marketing and member of the Go Red for Women National Leadership Council. “We want people to know there’s something special going on, so when they get to the register, they’ll want to join the cause.”

Thank you to Big Lots for turning their orange RED for Heart Month and for encouraging their customers to honor important women in their life at each store’s Celebration Station!
