Those who learn CPR are more empowered to act with confidence in the event of an emergency at home, work, or in the community.

Major League Baseball and the American Heart Association are turning bystanders into lifesavers through Hands-Only CPR and AED training supporting the chain of survival where fans live, work and play.

The American Heart Association is the worldwide leader in resuscitation science, education and training, and publisher of the official Guidelines for CPR. With nearly 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests occurring in homes, knowing how to perform CPR is critically important. More than 350,000 people in the US have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year. CPR, especially if performed immediately, could double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival.

Know Before You Go:

What to wear:
Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing as they will be getting on the floor to participate in the event. Participants will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting.

Accessibility:
If you have physical conditions that might prevent you from participating in the course, please tell one of the instructors when you arrive for the course. The instructor will work to accommodate your needs.

What is Hands-Only CPR?
Hand-Only CPR is a skill everyone can learn. It is as simple as calling 911 if you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse; and then pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest. Research has proven that Hands-Only CPR be equally effective as traditional CPR in the first few minutes of emergency response. Hands-Only CPR is not card credentialed CPR.

Where can I get information on Card Credentialed CPR?

What is the Smart Heart Sports Coalition?
MLB is a founding member of the Smart Heart Sports Coalition, with the American Heart Association, the NFL, NBA, NHL, and others ports leagues. The coalition is actively advocating for all 50 states to adopt evidence-based public policies that will prevent fatal outcomes from cardiac arrest by better preparing for cardiac emergencies.

Why should I attend?
Research shows that Hands-Only CPR is just as effective as full CPR when delivered in the first few minutes. Bystanders are more likely to jump in and take action when they know compression-only CPR. You are most likely to perform CPR on someone you know and love.
