Healthy Food, Healthy Oregon

Access to healthy food is important for a healthy lifestyle. Research shows eating more fruits and vegetables has a positive impact on health, and conversely, an unhealthy diet can contribute to a host of issues, including increased risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and more. Because we spend so much time at the office, healthy options in the workplace are part of the solution.
Our local Board of Directors is seeking 100 local employers to “Take the Pledge” to offer healthy food choices in their workplaces. It’s simple, just make minor adjustments such as including healthier options in vending machines, reduce or eliminate sugar-sweetened beverages, reduce candy and other high-sugar foods, etc.
Every action taken shows a commitment toward a culture of employee health. Will you take the pledge?

A Healthy Future For All
Policy change at the state and local level is a priority for the American Heart Association. For the coming year we will be advocating for increased access to fruits and vegetables for our most vulnerable communities through SNAP and WIC expansion and removing sugary drinks from kids meals.
