Are you passionate about health and heart disease? Can you create data that tells a story, that makes a difference?
Enter the Heart of Texas Data Visualization Contest, sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA) and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of adult Texans. We’re looking for new and fresh ways to use data visualization to tell the story of how cardiovascular disease impacts Texas. Entry categories include both static and dynamic visualizations.
Professional and student category winners will:
- Receive award at the Healthier Texas Summit, Oct. 17-18, 2019.
- Be published on the DSHS Texas Health Data website and social media.
- Receive free registration to the AHA 2020 Scientific Data Sessions in Dallas, Texas.
Expert judging panel includes DSHS Commissioner Dr. John Hellerstedt, D3 expert Shirley Wu, and Yosef Khan, Ph.D. of the American Heart Association.
Conference attendees at the Healthier Texas Summit will also vote on a “People’s Choice” for best visualization. Winner will get free ticket to the 2020 conference.
To enter the contest, first read the fine print, then submit entries using the below form. The registration form also contains a link to the downloadable data sets for the data visualizations. Deadline to submit a visualization is September 20, 2019, by 11:59 pm.
