Welcome to Fellows Research Day
  • Updated:May 9,2013

Brian Feingold, MDAs this year’s Chairperson of the Fellows Research Day Task Force, I am pleased to announce that on Friday, February 15, 2013, the American Heart Association, Allegheny Division, will sponsor its 21st annual Fellows Research Day (FRD). This year’s event will be hosted by Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and will be held on-campus, in the John G. Rangos Research Center.

The primary objective of FRD is to showcase local cardiovascular and stroke researchers who are in-training, in a friendly and collegial environment. Participation is open to trainees at all levels, including undergraduates, medical students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows, from any institution. Trainees' mentors are also encouraged to attend. Research considered for presentation at FRD must have relevance to cardiovascular disease or stroke.

In addition to recognition at this year’s Pittsburgh Heart Ball, cash prizes will be awarded for the top clinical and basic science presentations as judged by the FRD Task Force. The task force is comprised of established researchers in the Pittsburgh area, as well as American Heart Association volunteers dedicated to the research mission of the organization.

Please mark your calendars and consider this invitation to participate in FRD 2013. Together, through your participation in events like this, we can make a difference in the fight against cardiovascular disease and stroke. As a former FRD participant, it is my great honor to serve as chairman of this year’s FRD Task Force and I look forward to seeing you at FRD 2013.

Best wishes,
