Union Bank is 2013 Top National Heart Walk Team

Union Bank TacomaCongratulations to our longtime supporter Union Bank, N.A., which has been named the 2013 Top National Heart Walk Team. This is the third time the bank has earned this distinction! Over the last six years alone the bank and its employees have donated more than $4 million in support of our research, education and prevention programs. The Tacoma team is pictured.

Union Bank has supported the American Heart Association’s (AHA) mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, for nearly 30 years and is currently a regional sponsor of our My Heart. My Life. healthy living initiative in Greater Los Angeles, the Greater Bay Area and San Diego.

Bank employees, family, friends and customers collectively raised more than $580,000 during the 2013 Heart Walk campaign. Some 10,000-plus employees participated in more than 200 Heart Walks throughout the bank’s service areas. Union Bank was also recently recognized with a 2013 Gold Achievement as a Fit-Friendly worksite for meeting the AHA’s employee wellness criteria.

The enthusiasm of bank employees was reflected in their turnout for National Walking Day festivities on April 2 in many locations around the Western States Affiliate (WSA). Union Bank also embraces the Go Red For Women movement with activities focusing on National Wear Red Day and sponsorships for local Go Red For Women Luncheons – six of them in the WSA.

It also does an incredible job of embracing grassroots community outreach hosting health and wellness expos in locations throughout Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. Last year, the health and wellness expos provided more than 1,400 complimentary blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and BMI (body mass index) screenings to nearly 700 individuals in underserved communities.
