The 2014 Northeast Indiana Heart Walk on Saturday, September 13th is our "mission in action." The Heart Walk will be held at the Ivy Tech North Campus - one block north of Stellhorn, off St. Joe Road.
Aiden was born with congenital heart defects and underwent a successful open heart surgery in 2004 to repair a large hole in his heart known as an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD).
He has another defect called a Cleft Mitral Valve with regurgitation. His conditions are closely monitored and controlled with daily medication. As Aiden grows this condition could worsen resulting in another major surgery called a mitral valve repair or replacement.
Aiden is still an active young boy and is looking forward to sharing his story with walkers and making them more knowledgeable about congenital heart defects.
Hope that current and future generations will be healthier because participants have committed to heart health today!
Many participants are heart disease and stroke survivors; others walk in honor or memory of a friend or family member who has or had heart disease or stroke.
You will be inspired to make changes in your daily life to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.
