My name is Caroline. I am 8 years old and in second grade. I was born in China, and have faced many challenges in my life.

I was born with a cleft lip and palate that has been repaired and re-repaired. I have an autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and epilepsy.

When I was being diagnosed with all of these things, another very serious condition was later found: I was born with two Congenital Heart Defects called Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Dilated Ascending Aorta. It took several EKGs, ultrasounds and a cardiac MRI to discover this.

My condition means that I need to be monitored regularly by my cardiologist, and I can’t yet do all of the activities that other kids my age can. But still, I have a lot of energy and I really enjoy being active. I love playing with my friends and my favorite subject in school is Reading. I want to be a superhero when I grow up!

This will be my second year serving as a Heart Ambassador for the American Heart Association. Please join me in supporting the AHA and their Jump Rope for Heart program, so together we can help other kids like me!
