Thank you for your interest in the 2018 Mission: Lifeline EMS Recognition program. The Mission: Lifeline® EMS Recognition program is in its 5th year of celebrating the achievement of the pre-hospital providers and their collaboration with each other and destination hospitals specific to STEMI patient care. Through our STEMI Systems of Care work, it has been recognized that the ‘Systems of Care’ approach can be and should be applied to other urgent, time-critical disease states such as stroke and Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OOHCA). For the first time since the Mission: Lifeline EMS Recognition program began, in addition to the three original recognition measures, two new recognition measures have been added. Also for 2018 recognition, the optional plus measure is focused on OOHCA. Furthermore, there are five reporting measures (also optional) focused on STEMI, stroke and OOCH, broadening the Quality Improvement review process in the pre-hospital environment across disease states. The table below is a quick glimpse at the recognition measures and the impact each have on the care and outcomes of the patient.

2018 Mission: Lifeline EMS Recognition Measure Measure Impact to Care and Outcomes
12 Lead ECG Acquisition Early 12 Lead acquisition → Early recognition of STEMI → Early Notification to the ED → Early Activation to the Cath Lab → Timely Reperfusion
EMS FMC to PCI ≤90 Minutes Coordination of care between EMS and the STEMI Receiving centers
EMS Arrival at STEMI Referring Hospital to Lytic administration ≤30 Minutes Coordination of care between EMS and the STEMI Referring hospitals
EMS FMC to 12 Lead acquisition ≤10 Minutes Early 12 Lead acquisition → Early recognition of STEMI → Early Notification to the ED → Early Activation to the Cath Lab → Timely Reperfusion
1st STEMI positive 12 Lead ECG to ED Notification (suggesting a STEMI Alert) Early 12 Lead acquisition → Early recognition of STEMI → Early Notification to the ED → Early Activation to the Cath Lab → Timely Reperfusion
OOHCA patients with sustained ROSC who have 12 Lead ECG performed Approximately ½ of the sudden cardiac arrest population suffer from STEMI. Early 12 Lead acquisition → Early recognition of STEMI → Early Notification to the ED → Early Activation to the Cath Lab → Timely Reperfusion
