Recognition Program
The Thanks Your Hospital Team Deserves

Hospitals that participate actively and consistently in Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke are eligible for public recognition. It's an opportunity to hone a competitive edge in the marketplace by providing tangible evidence of commitment to quality care.

Silver, Gold, Silver Plus and Gold Plus award-winning Get With The Guidelines-Stroke hospitals are honored at national recognition events during the International Stroke Conference and listed by name in advertisements that appear annually in Stroke and in the “Best Hospitals” issue of U.S. News & World Report. Moreover, all award-winning hospitals are offered customizable marketing materials they can use to announce their achievements locally.

Don’t miss out on these and other recognition opportunities. Contact your local representative or view recognition criteria for details.  Download the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke fact sheet for an overview of the achievement, quality, reporting, and descriptive measures reported on via Get With The Guidelines-Stroke.

In addition to Get With The Guidelines award opportunities, the program has played an important role in helping hospitals win other prestigious national awards, including Magnet Status, the Malcolm Baldrige Award and the Joint Commission’s Codman Award.

Starting in January 2015, hospitals will have the opportunity to be recognized with two new Target: Stroke Honor Roll levels. The existing and new Honor Roll levels will include:
  • Target: Stroke Honor Roll: Time to thrombolytic therapy within 60 minutes in 50 percent or more of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IV tPA (current criteria and same volume thresholds).
  • Target: Stroke Honor Roll-Elite: Time to thrombolytic therapy within 60 minutes in 75 percent or more of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IV tPA (current criteria and same volume thresholds).
  • Target: Stroke Honor Roll-Elite Plus: Time to thrombolytic therapy within 60 minutes in 75 percent or more of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IV tPA AND door-to-needle time within 45 minutes in 50 percent of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IV tPA (current criteria and same volume thresholds).

Target: Stroke Phase II Survey 2.0 Launch
On December 9, one representative at each participating Get With the Guidelines-Stroke hospital received an email with online survey link to complete the Target: Stroke Phase II Survey 2.0. The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association greatly values each Target: Stroke participating hospital’s input and the commitment to improving stroke care and outcomes. If you are planning to apply for Target: Stroke Honor Roll, Honor Roll Elite or Honor Roll Elite Plus after January 1, 2015 you must complete the online Target: Stroke Phase II Survey 2.0 prior to submitting application for approval. Please contact Mary Paulsen at Mary.Paulsen@heart.org with any questions.
