Description
Ingredients
1/2 cup water (plus more as needed)
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 medium tart apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1 tablespoon sugar
Cooking Instructions
Stir in the apples. Cook, covered, for 5 minutes. If necessary, uncover and cook until all the moisture has cooked away.
Stir in the sugar.
Cook’s Tip: Tart apples include Granny Smith and Gravenstein. Among the varieties that are tart but have a hint of sweetness are Braeburn, Jonathan, McIntosh, pippin (or Newton pippin), and Winesap.
