Kids with Heart are local heart/stroke-survivors, serving as ambassadors for the American Heart Association. Through sharing their story and encouraging others to support Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart, they are helping the American Heart Association build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

My name is Rebekah and I am 16 now. I was born with pulmonary stenosis. I had 2 balloon valvuloplasty procedures (at age 1 ½ and again at 3); Then I had an open heart surgery at age 4. (They had to remove my pulmonary valve).

My name is Kaley. I am 6 years old and a student at Glenwood Elementary School. When I was 9 months old, my doctor noticed that I had a hole in my heart, a condition known as Atrial Septal Defect. They decided to watch it closely to see if it would improve as I grew. But as I grew, the hole got bigger.

My name is Logan and I am 6 years old. When I was only two weeks old, my pediatrician heard a heart murmur when he examined me and requested further testing. I was later diagnosed with multiple Congenital Heart Defects.
 
Jacob F Kids With HeartMy name is Jake. I am 11 years old and in the 6th grade.  I was 10 years old when it all started. I was at football practice when my chest started to hurt really badly. I went to the Emergency Room and was later diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. This means that my heart has an extra pathway that causes the electrical signal to travel to my ventricles too soon.

I am 11 years old and in the fifth grade.  I was born with a heart murmur.  My parents were told when I was born that murmurs are not uncommon in children and that I might outgrow it.  Then, when I was five, I went to the doctor for strep throat.  The doctor was concerned about the sound of the murmur and felt that I should see a pediatric cardiologist.

My name is Sela P.  I am 7 years old and in the second grade. My defect is called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA.) This means that the arteries at the top of her heart were switched.  I  had a procedure called “arterial switch” when I was just 5 days old. .

People born with Heterotaxy Syndrome usually have an abnormal arrangement of the organs and in most cases; complex congenital heart defects are present.

The results showed that it was three times as bad as when it started a year ago. When I woke up they told me what had happened and that the doctors said "You'll probably need a heart transplant". I love to go on "Adventures", I love tractors, trains and trucks of any kind, I love to make big splashes in puddles, I love to spin bowls and balls, I love to go for walks, swim in our pool and play with my friends.
