Glen Golemi is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for UnitedHealthcare’s Gulf States Region, where he manages $5.0 billion in medical expenditures for 1.2 million covered lives in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. Under his seasoned leadership, his health plans successfully deliver affordable and quality based health programs to employers and members, provide them broad access to medical providers, and give them innovative tools to improve their overall health and well-being.
Glen’s progressive leadership spans more than three decades in the health care and benefits industry. His noteworthy experience includes new market development and expansion, product development, sales management, medical cost management, network development, financial management, regulatory compliance, government affairs and leadership during major acquisitions.
Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare as CEO in 2005, Glen served as President and CEO of Advanced HealthCare Solutions, Inc., a health care consulting firm he founded in 1998. He also served various roles for Community Health Network of Louisiana including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Sr. Vice President of Marketing, where his accomplishments include developing and bringing to market the first Medicare Advantage program in 1993 and expanding managed care programs to small business employers. After beginning his career in 1980 with Pacific Mutual, he transitioned into the managed care arena in 1984, where he eventually held the title of National Vice President, Marketing and Development for Maxicare Health Plans.
Glen is a graduate of Loyola University and his current professional affiliations include: Board/Past President, Louisiana Association of Health Plans; President, Alabama Association of Health Plans; Board Member, Healthy Lifestyle Choices; Chairman, American Heart Association Greater Southeast Affiliate Board of Directors; Board Member, Alabama Health Insurance High Risk Pool, and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s Health Care Transition Council. Glen was recognized as a 2012 Who’s Who in Healthcare by the Birmingham Business Journal. In his spare time, Glen is an avid cyclist and enthusiastic Saints fan.
