Form W-9 or Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires employers/companies to report payments to non-employees/vendors for services rendered. These payments are reported annually to the IRS on form 1099. Tax identification numbers can be requested with the W-9 Form.

To assist in gathering the vendor’s tax ID #, you can provide the W-9 Form and ask the vendor to return the completed form with their invoice. This will be the most efficient process to obtain their tax ID # and will avoid delays in payments.
