Turn to someone you love and who loves you for support and help. A friend or family member can help you thru and make it all worth while.
A couple years ago, I was eating whatever was easy. My husband and I ate out alot. Then our company (we both work for the same company) held a health fair and my blood sugar was high.
At first I didn't go to my doctor to get checked but then when I got sick, I took my fair results with me. He said if I could loose weight, eat right and exercise, I could control it. So I started eating better and lost a little weight. I rocked on and didn't feel bad so I thought I was doing ok.
Then my husband had a heart attack and we almost lost him. I started learning all I could about heart disease. I discovered that diabetes could lead to heart disease and that it was a main killer of females. When I told my husband that he had to follow his new low sodium diet because I could not go this again, he said he didn't want to go thru anything like this with me either.
So I started on his diet with him. We both started walking daily. We are supporting each other. I started taking meds to help me control my diabetes. So with diet, exercise, meds, and my husband's support and encouragement, I am managing my health now. I feel like I can look forward to a retirement someday with my husband with both of us taking care of our health. As for advice, I say turn to someone you love and who loves you for support and help. A friend or family member can help you thru and make it all worth while.
