Summary:

I want to find a way to control my diabetes, weight and eating habits. I know that hard work and sticking to my goals are going to help me win.

I was always warned by my Primary care Dr to lose weight because it could lead to complications. Well in 2007, I learned that I had type 2 diabetes by mishap, but I am glad that it worked out in my benefit.

My toe begin to swell. I thought I had hit it on something. After I about 4 to 5 days, my toe and leg had swollen to an enormous size. I went to the ER because my leg and foot was hot to the touch. The ER Dr advised that I made it just in time. He did have to cut a small part of my toe to release the pus that had built up.

From that point on it has been a struggle to control my diabetes. I have been up and down on my weight. I have been on a roller coaster to lose weight. I have lost about 50 lbs through walking and gain it all back plus more. It has been a task tiring to stay on meds. I am just praying to do better and hoping that my struggles are some that I can share with others who may be going through just as I am.

I don't want to end up like my father who died of a heart attack or his brother who had diabetes and have to have both legs amputated. I want to find a way to control my diabetes, weight and eating habits. I have now learned to portion my meals with snacking through the day and working on the weight lost again. I know that it is a hard task. My mom is my key to my success, I admire how she shows concern. I know that hard work and sticking to my goals are going to help me win.
