Review this page for additional local research programs and opportunities offered through the American Heart Association Founders Affiliate. These are available to eligible applicants in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

PROGRAM OFFERINGS:

Founders Affiliate Undergraduate Student Summer Fellowship Program

Researcher working in labThe goal of this program is to encourage students to pursue careers in cardiovascular research. Research projects with broad relevance to cardiovascular biology and stroke will be considered. Eligible students must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at the time of application submission.

Application deadline: February 11, 2013
5 p.m. E.S.T.

Award activation: Fellowships of $5,000 each are available for a 10-week period during the summer of 2013.

Founders Affiliate Medical Student Research Program

The purpose of the grant is to encourage medical students to consider a career in cardiovascular research. The need for new researchers in the health sciences, from basic science to human behaviors, is critical. This program is designed to provide students at the crossroads of career choices an opportunity to experience research first hand with an established investigator.

Medical student smiling for the cameraAwards for student stipends are made for 12 months for $22,000 per year which includes 10% indirect cost.

Application deadline: January 31, 2013, 5:00 E.S.T.

Award activation: July 1, 2013
