Sharing the amazing possibilities for a healthy, tasty diet with those who want to eat better is Chef Phillip Dell’s goal in life. He is an award winning chef who has won top honors at the American Heart Association’s Flavors of the Heart food festival in Las Vegas, NV. He is also a competitive natural bodybuilder and three-time world champion power lifter who shifted to a healthier lifestyle by losing 92 pounds and keeping it off for years.
His journey began in childhood with a passion for cooking. That interest led to degrees from the prestigious Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island and eventually to a high-profile job as Pastry Sous Chef at Wynn-Las Vegas. He now owns an upscale private chef company called Sin City Chefs and has won multiple awards in national culinary competitions.
He explains, “A few years ago I topped the scales at 217 pounds, with a 44 inch waist and multiple health issues. I had to make a change and as I began transforming my body through healthy eating and exercise, I learned to transform my favorite foods into healthier versions without losing any of the flavor and texture I craved.”
Chef Phillip currently teaches healthy cooking seminars and classes to help people seeking a healthier lifestyle -- particularly those with diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease. His top tip for those wanting to eat healthy is “to get rid of carbonated beverages and anything refined or processed."
He adds, “I was once unhealthy, and I was able to change that. My goal is to help those who want to live a healthier lifestyle eat better one bite at a time.”
Chef Phillip’s Zucchni Crisp took top honors in the dessert division at the 2013 “Flavors of the Heart” food festival. See more details about him and his prize-winning recipe on pages 43 and 44 of the “Flavors of the Heart” e-cookbook which contains all the festival favorites.
