It was a normal day in class, or so Adrienne Hergert thought. As a fourth grade physical education teacher at Reinhardt Elementary in Rockwall, Hergert had planned her lesson around jumping rope, and had previously taught her students where to find their hearts and what a normal heart beat felt like.
Before class had begun, a fire alarm went off and the class quickly exited the building. Upon their return, Jackson Pigott’s best friend, Jaxon, asked Hergert to feel Pigott’s heart.
Since they had yet to begin exercising, it came as quite a shock to her that Pigott’s heart was beating so fast.
