is a $20 million addition to our ongoing work to improve health in rural America.

In Montana, we expanded Get With The Guidelines, our hospital-based quality improvement initiative, adding six contracts.

The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust HeartCorps grant helps empower public health workers and reduce cardiovascular risks in rural Iowa, Minnesota and Wyoming.

and taking bold steps toward health equity. Another initiative, Health Equity in the Workforce, convenes employers and industry leaders to help improve the health and well-being of employees.

Getting to the Heart of Stroke, developed in conjunction with HCA Healthcare and HCA Healthcare Foundation, continues its work aimed at preventing strokes and improving stroke care by educating and deepening the collaboration among health care professionals, and empowering people to know and better manage their stroke risk.

Work continues on Bank of America's $25 million initiative to increase access to health care services in under-resourced communities, which includes a $10 million commitment to the AHA. We’ve joined forces in 11 cities to fight health inequities, ensuring fair opportunities and resources for all.

Teams of research scientists from three universities are leading a $15 million project to study the biological mechanisms of chronic stress that can increase cardiovascular disease risk. Our Strategically Focused Research Network on Biologic Pathways of Chronic Psychosocial Stressors on Cardiovascular Health focuses on how the body responds to chronic stress, as well as how certain interventions may help reduce health risks.

More than $263 million has been used to establish 15 Strategically Focused Research Networks to help build a world of longer, healthier lives.

Every day, the actions of the American Stroke Association are a powerful force in ensuring that those who have a stroke get timely, optimal care, support, essential rehabilitative services and more. Our scientific support includes a new research network on hemorrhagic stroke and

the open-access journal Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology.
