Blacks less likely than whites, Hispanics to get evidence-based stroke care
  • Updated:Mar 3,2011

Study highlights:

  • Despite systematic implementation of evidence-based stroke care practices at U.S. hospitals, differences in care remain between black patients and Hispanic or white patients.
  • Black patients with stroke received fewer evidence-based care measures than whites or Hispanics – possibly leading to an increased risk of recurrent stroke.
  • Stroke care improved substantially over time at hospitals in the Get With The Guidelines–Stroke program for blacks, whites and Hispanics.
