American Heart Association DAF Program

In one way or another, cardiovascular diseases and stroke affect all Americans. To improve the lives of people throughout the United States and in your community, we fund critical life-saving research that supports the work of scientists and researchers globally. We provide public health education in a variety of ways. We’re the nation’s leader in CPR education training. We help people understand the importance of healthy lifestyle choices. We provide science-based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals to help them provide quality care to their patients. We educate lawmakers, policymakers and the public as we advocate for changes to protect and improve the health of our communities.

If building healthier lives is important to you and your family, consider establishing a donor advised fund. A donor advised fund (DAF) is a unique tool for charitable giving that is sponsored by a public charity. It allows a donor to make a donation, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to IRS-qualified public charities any time after the fund is created.

There are many benefits within our DAF program:

  • You can provide funds for important research and programs
  • You receive a total charitable tax deduction for your contributions
  • You have the opportunity to provide grants to other charities in addition to the American Heart Association through this same account
  • You have the option to involve your children in funding decisions for charity
  • You can keep your existing financial advisor to manage these funds

DAF Direct

With the growing popularity of donor advised fund (DAF) accounts, the American public has clearly embraced the use of such charitable accounts to express their philanthropy. Several large donor advised fund providers have joined together to make it easier to quickly make a grant to a charity. DAF Direct is the link to these provider accounts and we provide this link on their website to assist donors in making the grant process easy. DAF Direct providers include:

  • Fidelity Charitable
  • Schwab Charitable
  • BNY Mellon
  • Greater Kansas City Community Foundation

If you have an existing account with any of these funds, it is easy to make a gift to the association or any other qualified charity. However, if heart disease and stroke are important issues to you and your family, please consider establishing a DAF account through the American Heart Association Donor Advised Fund Program. We appreciate your consideration.
