Updated:Nov 20,2014

At the American Heart Association, we’re as passionate about our employees as we are about our mission. The AHA is dedicated to being an employer of choice that honors and rewards our employees who help make an extraordinary impact on advancing our mission. We’re committed to providing benefits, wellness programs and professional development resources that meet your personal and professional needs.

Our benefits package is designed to meet your individual needs and preferences, as well as provide you with choice and flexibility. Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours a week are eligible to participate in the healthcare plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. Eligible dependents under the AHA’s group healthcare plans include: Your legal spouse, your domestic partner (same or opposite sex) and your children who are under 26 or are disabled.

Your Benefits

Your Benefits

Medical
AHA offers comprehensive medical plan options with different levels of coverage and cost so you can choose the plan that best meets your individual and family needs. Our plans focus on wellness and provide preventive screenings at 100% coverage in-network.
Dental
Our dental plan gives you the flexibility to use a participating network of dentists or a dentist of your choice. The plan is designed to encourage preventative care, which is covered at 100%, as well as coverage for basic and advanced dental services.
Vision
Vision benefits offer coverage for routine eye examinations as well as glasses or contact lenses. Our provider allows for in-network or out-of-network options.
Flexible Spending
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) allow you to set aside pre-tax earnings to pay for eligible out-of-pocket health care, dependent care or commuter expenses.
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
If you become ill or injured, short-term disability coverage provides pay up to a maximum of 90 days. The percentage of pay provided is based on your years of service. For disabilities beyond 90 days, you may be eligible to receive long-term disability benefits. Long-term disability replaces up to 60% of your base pay to a maximum of $10,000 per month.

Compensation

Our total compensation program is focused on engaging and retaining employees who are motivated by high performance expectations and who are committed to making the American Heart Association the most effective, respected voluntary health organization in the country.

AHA’s goal is to ensure employees are paid competitively. We regularly review the market value for our jobs and structure our salary ranges to be competitive.

AHA takes a comprehensive approach to performance management and recognition for individual and collaborative achievements aligned with organizational goals in advancing our mission. This includes individual goal setting, performance reviews and potential for annual merit increases.
