I monitor my labs and diet very closely now. I realize I am not getting any younger.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I was thirty eight years of age. I am now about to turn sixty in a less than a few months.
I was never as careful with diet as I should have been. At the age of 50, I experienced kidney failure that lead to dialysis. To find guidance I look to my wife, Amy. She has been a care giver to her mother, who has multiple health problems and her former husband who is also a type 2 diabetic.
The advice I would offer to someone with type 2 diabetes, would be to take this more seriously than I did. If I had been more serious, perhaps my type 2 diabetes would not have become full blown diabetes and have not lead to kidney failure.
I monitor my labs and diet very closely now. I realize I am not getting any younger. The most inspirational person to the success of managing my health problems is my loving wife Amy. She knows my body better than I do, and warns me of blood sugar dips before I'm even aware of them. She constantly encourages me to do the things I love and helps me watch my diet.
