If you are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes please listen to your doctor, eat a well balanced diet and walk walk walk for your health. My cousin has been recently diagosed with type 2 diabetes and these are the suggestions that I told him.
It all begin when I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, which I got the dreaded disease from a waterpill that I had taken for years to help control high blood pressure. As soon as I was rushed to the emergency room with uncontrollable pain in my chest and back, the ER doctor says "we now know what is wrong, the tests show you have pancreatitis."
My doctor walks in a few minutes later and tells me that I will not be taking the waterpill any longer because it has caused my pancreas to be diseased. Also, he says that I have type 2 Diabetes and its in the honeymoon stages.
I was glad that they finally found what was causing all the pain and sickness, but was shocked that a pill could cause all the damage. After I was released from the hospital, I started a plan that would help control the diabetes and panceatitis.
Doctors told me if I watched my diet and exercised daily that I perhaps would not have to take a pill to control the diabetes. They were right. It has been 6 years now,and I have lost 54 lb from watching and controlling my diet.
It has not been easy but after awhile you realize it is for the best and it becomes easier as time goes by. Just this year I had a setback with my health. I woke up in the middle of the night with stabbing sharp pain in my leg and foot. I was in so much pain that I could not stand, walk nor sit because the pain was so strong.
Again I went to the ER and then to my doctor the next morning. I now have nerve damage in my foot. This is the effects of diabetes. The pain is much better now, but the numbness is still there. I walk every day no matter what I feel like, whether I am in pain or not, I walk.
I think walking has kept me from getting worse.Walking has helped me with the diabetes, nerve damage and has helped me keep the extra pounds off. Walking also helps relieve the stress that we go through when we are sick with diseases like diabetes.

I believe that walking really helps.
Take care everyone and love yourself. Do things that make you happy and feel alive again and don't let a little setback get you stressed or depressed. I also talk to family and friends and talk to God daily. All these things certainly help and aid in my quest to beat this disease.
