The Western States Affiliate welcomes Scientific Sessions 2012 to the Los Angeles Convention Center, Nov. 3-7. This is the first time in a decade that the American Heart Association’s premiere scientific conference has been held on the West Coast.
The association expects more than 20,000 scientists and healthcare professionals from 110 countries to attend Scientific Sessions, the largest gathering devoted to the science of cardiovascular disease and stroke and the care of patients suffering from these diseases.
The theme is “Leading Discovery. Global Impact,” and will highlight the comprehensive nature of scientific presentations and the importance of the international collaboration taking place among thousands of cardiovascular disease experts. There will be more than 4,000 scientific presentations and 300 exhibitors are expected to showcase the latest cardiovascular technology and resources.
Science programming is divided into seven cardiovascular cores which help integrate the concepts of basic, clinical, population and translational science. It allows attendees to interact with colleagues across disciplines, and helps improve patient care by communicating the most timely and significant advances in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease from many different perspectives.
“Despite being one of the largest meetings of its kind, Scientific Sessions offers unique opportunities for interaction and instruction among various specialties,” says Elliott Antman, M.D., chair, Committee on Scientific Sessions Program. “The scope and quality of scientific exchange at Scientific Sessions makes it the premier cardiovascular research and instructional meeting in the world.”
