INDIANAPOLIS - Dr. Mark Jones and Jim England will lead the American Heart Association’s Indianapolis Metropolitan Board of Directors during the 2013-14 fiscal year. Jones was elected president of the board while England will serve as chairman of the board. Tobin Richer has also joined the board.
Jones (right), who has served on the board since 2005, is co-director of the St. Francis Heart Failure Care Clinic and a cardiologist with Franciscan St. Francis Health Heart Center and Franciscan Physician Network Indiana Heart Physicians. He is involved in research trials studying ways to manage the care and quality of life of heart failure patients.
England (left), the president of J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, has served on the American Heart Association board since 2007, chairing the Indianapolis Heart Walk for two years.
Richer is vice president for executive and clinical communications at WellPoint, Inc. He has primary responsibility for the internal and external strategic positioning and communications support for WellPoint’s president and CEO, as well as WellPoint’s chief medical officer, the company’s primary clinical spokesperson and health policy advocate.
Jones and England take over for outgoing board president Dr. Arthur Coffey, IU Health, and chairman Dan Krajnovich, UnitedHealthcare, who both remain on the board of directors.
The American Heart Association actively works in the Indianapolis metro area to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Programs include Go Red For Women, the Indianapolis Heart Walk & 5K Run, Jump Rope For Heart, statewide advocacy efforts, CPR training and more.
