Wear "red" and join us at the 2013 Des Moines Go Red For Women Luncheon on Friday, October 18th at Des Moines University.
Go Red For Women® is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease in women. We are committed to the fight, for as long as it takes.
Each year cardiovascular disease claims the lives of over 930,000. While many consider heart disease to be a man's disease, the truth is that for women, the statistics are as equally daunting. Because women are often busy caring for others, they can easily neglect their own health – and often do.
Go Red BetterU Challenge
A group of Greater Des Moines area women will have a 12-week heart health makeover including a cardiac risk assessment and counseling with a nurse practitioner from the Iowa Heart Center, access to a dietician from Mercy Weight Loss & Nutrition Center, and a 12-week membership with wellness coaching at the YMCA Healthy Living Center. Each participant will also take part in wellness screenings. Those same numbers will be measured at the end of the 12-week challenge, and the winner will be announced at the Go Red For Women Luncheon.
